“So, this is how you’re going to get back at me for not falling in love with you? You’re going to make me whore, pregnant or not. Yours or not. I spread my legs, except now, it’s when you say so?”
Jaguar’s lips tip up into a smirk. “Now you’re thinkin’, baby. Not just a pretty face, are you?”
Shaking my head, I scoot up the bed a little more, my back leaning against the headboard. “Why don’t you just find someone else? Why are you doing this to me? Why are you making us both miserable?”
Jaguar lifts his knee, sinking it into the bed as he reaches forward and wraps his hand around the side of my neck. His thumb traces my bottom lip and his eyes, they almost soften right before they turn hard again.
“Bitch, you knew I wanted you. You pushed and pushed. You fucked and fucked. You never gave a shit that I wanted you, that I needed you.”
“Jaguar,” I breathe.
He shakes his head. “It’s too late, Della. This is our life now. You’re mine and I’ll do whatever the fuck I want with you,” he snaps.
Without another word, he stands and I watch him walk toward the bathroom door, he slams it behind him just as Mountain opens the motel room door carrying a tray of coffees and a big bag of, hopefully, breakfast.
“You okay, babe? You look a little sick,” he murmurs.
Nodding, I silently lie as I give him a fake smile. “I’m okay. Is that breakfast?”
His lips twitch and he lifts his chin. “Yeah, coffee and pancakes. Noticed how you wolfed them down last night. Figured you’d like a second go around.”
I wonder, not for the first time, why Mountain and I couldn’t be more attracted to one another. Why we couldn’t make it work. He said he would be with me, make me his Old Lady, but that’s a sacrifice that I’m not willing to allow him to make. Not when I know that there is a woman out there for him, somewhere. A rich one, a classy one. The perfect woman meant just for him.
Though, I doubt I have a man just for me. I’m just not wired the same as other people. Mountain doesn’t say anything as he hands me my bag of food and a coffee cup. Taking a sip of what I assume is coffee, my eyes widen and I hold the liquid in my mouth as I stare in horror at Mountain.
“Hot chocolate,” he rumbles, trying to hold back his laughter.
Swallowing the liquid, I shiver in disgust. “That’s foul,” I groan.
“You’re pregnant. Heard somewhere that bitches don’t need caffeine when they’re knocked up,” he states.
My eyes stay wide and my mouth drops open slightly at his words. I hadn’t even thought about eating differently, not really. I just knew that I needed to actually eat, take care of my body a bit better.
“You been to the doctor?” he asks, his voice a touch softer than I’ve ever heard before.
I bite the corner of my lip, looking at the bag of food, then back up to him. Shaking my head, the guilt that I feel consumes me instantly. Mountain sits down on the edge of the bed. I hold my breath as he reaches out and cups my cheek with his large palm. His thumb traces my bottom lip and he lets out a long sigh.
“Make an appointment. You need me to take you, I will. Just do it. You gotta take care of you and you gotta care for that baby growin’ inside of you.”
Lifting my hand, I wrap my fingers around his wrist and hold on to him, wishing all over again that this could work between us. “When you meet her, whoever she is, she’ll be the luckiest woman on the planet, Mountain.”
He grins, with a wink, his hand falls from mine and he stands as soon as the bathroom door opens.
“You get food?” Jaguar asks, his voice a deep boom as he makes his way over to the bed. I watch as he reaches into the bag and grabs what looks like a breakfast burrito. “Better go get dressed, we gotta get the fuck outta here soon,” he barks right before he sinks his teeth into the burrito.
Nodding, I set the hot chocolate down on the nightstand. Reaching into the bag and with only a sheet covering my naked body, I eat a whole order of giant pancakes quickly. Then, I take a long warm shower all alone, enjoying the solitude.
What I don’t do is think about Jaguar and how he’s changed, or maybe just how he’s showing me more of his true self. I don’t think about his anger with me or the fact that he’s suddenly okay with sharing me. I don’t think about how that makes me feel. I don’t think about how absolutely empty and alone I feel, too.
Once I’m dressed, we load back up into the pickup and continue north toward Arizona. Eagar comes into view and I can’t help the peace that washes over me just at sight of the city limit sign. Biting the inside of my cheek, I turn toward Jag.
“When will I know about my parents?” I ask.
He looks over at me, he’s driving today instead of Mountain and I can’t deny that he looks sexy behind the wheel. He jerks his chin toward Mountain, then shifts his gaze back to the front windshield.
“Today. It’s supposed to go down today.”
“Who is doing it, how?”
Jaguar shakes his head, his hand leaving the steering wheel to wrap around my thigh. He gives me a small squeeze, meant to be reassuring, but it doesn’t work. My parents are going to die and while yesterday it seemed inevitable, something that didn’t bother me at all, like it was meant to be. Now, I’m not so sure.
Jaguar’s hand moves from my thigh and I feel his palm against my lower belly. “Doesn’t matter how, baby. Only matters that you’re safe now. That shit was fucked and they don’t deserve your beauty.”
My heart flutters at his words. Just when I think he’s the biggest piece of shit on the planet, he goes and makes my entire body warm and I melt toward him. Lifting my hand, I lay it against the back of his on my belly and shift my gaze over to his.
He turns and grins at me, looking younger in this moment than I’ve ever seen him. He also looks happy. I decide that I can do this.
For him, with him, as long as he’s happy.
I tell myself that’s all that matters. He’s finally happy, after watching him be angry and hurt by my rejection for months, this is it, this is the moment I change my life for him, for my baby.
JAGUAR
Pulling up to the clubhouse gate, I lift my hand, giving the prospect on guard a two-finger salute as the gate slowly opens to allow us entry. Mountain has been silent, again, the entire drive here. I don’t ask him what he’s thinking, or what’s wrong, I already know. He doesn’t think that I should keep Della as my own. He thinks that she should be free, but I can’t do that, I can’t let her leave me.
She’s mine.
Dragon walks out of the clubhouse as soon as I shift the truck into park. Mountain quickly exits, jogging toward Dragon. I slide out of the truck as well, following behind him. We need to talk to him about Kade, and Della’s parents. Though we’ve told him what happened, while it was happening, he still needs to be debriefed.
“You good?” Dragon asks, jerking his chin toward me.
Smirking, I tilt my head to the side, looking slightly behind me to see Eagle helping Della out of the pickup. Turning my gaze back to Dragon, I shrug one shoulder. “Really fuckin’ good, brother,” I admit like a goddamn teenager.
Mountain snorts, but I ignore him. I don’t give a fuck what he thinks about Della and me. As soon as she’s branded, he won’t be able to say a goddamn word about her, or us. I’ve also decided I don’t give a fuck whose kid is growing inside of her, it’s mine.
I don’t want a paternity test, I don’t want to know. I don’t want Mountain to think he has a say in shit. He doesn’t. This is me and Della, that’s it, well, and whoever I invite to fuck her with me. And I will, not because it’s my kink, but to prove a fucking point to her.
She needs to realize that I’m in charge, I’m in control and she no longer has a fucking say on what happens between us, in this club, or anything else in her life. That includes who is inside of her body that she so willingly has shared in front of me for months. I’m sure our relationship will change eventually, but this is what i
t is now, and this is what we are going forward, until I decide differently.
“Della,” Dragon rumbles.
Eagle grunts as he breezes past us. I ignore him as I slide my hand around Della’s hip and grip her tightly.
“Thanks for letting me come back,” Della murmurs.
“Talk to you in my office?” he asks, dipping his chin toward her.
She takes a step forward, but I tug her back, forcing her body to collide with my side. “Not without me,” I state.
Dragon shakes his head, his eyes finding mine and I don’t miss the immediate anger that fills them. He clears his throat, taking a step toward me. His voice is low and menacing when he speaks.
“She ain’t branded yet, Jag. I would tread goddamn lightly.”
Squaring my shoulders, I keep my gaze connected with his, but I release my hold on Della. It goes against everything that I want to do, but I let her walk away from me and inside of the club. Dragon doesn’t follow immediately, not like I expect him to. Instead, he watches me for a moment, tipping his head to the side.
“You need to get your priorities in order, Jaguar. This is still my club, she’s still under my protection. She ain’t yours until I say so, and even if she were, I’m not sure I’d like any of it.”
“Probably not, but when that brand is melted into her flesh, you don’t get a say,” I snort.
Dragon shakes his head, lifting his hand I watch as he scrubs his palm down his beard, tugging on the ends. His blue eyes lift to mine and search my own.
“This world is so fuckin’ ugly, brother. That bitch in there, I have a feeling she’s seen more ugly than she’s ever let on, especially now that we know a little more about her parents’ home. Don’t you think she deserves a little good in her life?”
“What, you marry a whore and treat her like a queen and all of a sudden all whores should be treated that way?” I spit.
Dragon’s shoulder jerks back at my words. I have no doubt that he has his hand balled in a fist, he leans forward, growling only a couple inches from my face.
“You better watch your fuckin’ ass, Jaguar. Secretary or not, brother or not, you talk about my woman that way again and I will not hesitate to maim you,” he warns.
I lift my chin, stubbornly refusing to back down even though I know that my words were cold, cruel—wrong. All women should be treated like queens by their men, no matter what they’ve done in their lives. Bellarosa didn’t have a choice in being a whore and at the end of the day, neither did Della. But my pride, my anger, it won’t allow me to admit that or apologize for my words.
“Useless,” Dragon mutters.
I don’t ask him what he means, he’s pissed at me and I don’t blame him. I watch him turn around and stomp back into the clubhouse.
“Maybe you shouldn’t piss off your president, hermano?” a voice calls out from behind me.
Spinning around, I narrow my eyes at Eagle who is standing shirtless, his legs spread wide and his arms crossed over his chest. He’s not as big as I am, but he has lean muscle. I’ve seen him fight and he can one hundred percent hold his own in a scrap. Though, I’m not sure he’ll be able to against me.
“Mind your fuckin’ business and while you’re at it, stay the fuck away from my woman.”
Eagle snorts. “Hermano, you don’t deserve her. Don’t see a ring, don’t see a brand. Last time I checked, I ain’t even been inside of her, so maybe you’re thinkin’ something that just ain’t true,” he says, shrugging one shoulder.
Narrowing my eyes on him, I cross my arms over my chest, matching his stance. “I know how you watch her, I’ve seen it. Della is only available to who I say she’s available to and hermano,” I sneer. “That ain’t you.”
Eagle’s eyes flash with something that I really don’t fucking like. He releases his arms and lets them dangle loosely at his side as he takes a step toward me. He shakes his head a couple of times, but his black gaze never leaves mine. He doesn’t respond to my words, instead he turns around and walks away from me.
I watch him, wondering what the fuck he’s about. He watches Della more than he watches anyone else. I don’t understand it, especially since he wasn’t lying when he said he hasn’t fucked her. I know who she’s been with and he has never sampled, in fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him fuck a clubwhore.
“You okay?” Wolfe asks, appearing out of goddamn thin air at my side.
Turning my head, I look over at him. His eyes flick from Eagle’s retreating form back to me. “I’m good,” I grunt.
“Heard what you said. Della’s pregnant, man, don’t share her around like a party trick, not when you claim you want her as your own.”
“She’s a whore, Wolfe. It’s what she does, she’s used to it. Besides, why don’t you worry about your own?”
Wolfe growls, his eyes darken and he shakes his head. “You’re a fucking idiot,” he barks before he turns around and stomps away from me.
He’s right, of course. I am an idiot, but I don’t give a fuck right now.
Pride. Control. Ownership.
That is what matters.
I finally have what I’ve been dreaming of having for months. I have Della and I don’t give a fuck who that pisses off, or who I piss off by speaking the truth. She’s mine, as long as she consents and she will. Soon she’ll be branded and owned one hundred percent and that’s all I give a fuck about.
Chapter Six
DELLA
Dragon’s eyes scan my face, probably looking for signs of anger, or maybe even fear. He won’t find them. I’m neither scared nor angry. What I am he probably wouldn’t like, which is, completely and totally resigned. I don’t care though. He can not like it, but it just makes everything a hell of a lot easier for everyone involved, including me.
“You and Jaguar,” he says. I shrug a shoulder, sinking down in the chair across from him, attempting to look completely indifferent. “You know when Silver brought you here, I wasn’t sure how it was going to work out. Daddy’s little rich girl and all that shit.” He chuckles, lifting his hand and waving it around in my direction.
“But?”
“I like you, Della, a hell of a lot. You’ve got what it takes to be whatever you want to be in this club. I’d like to see you as an Old Lady, mainly because you’re havin’ a baby and being a whore, livin’ here, it ain’t for a kid. Unless you’re gonna get a place and just come for parties?”
I can’t hide my grimace. I hadn’t thought about that, about what happens when the baby comes. I can’t live here and I don’t have any money of my own. The club takes care of me, feeds me, and allows me to live rent free, as long as I allow them access to my body.
“I don’t know…” I say, letting my words trail off. Dragon looks at me and he can’t even attempt to hide the pity that he feels for me in this moment. “Jaguar wants me, and I’m going to be his…”
“That’s not what you want though, is it?” he asks.
Lifting my eyes to meet his, I can’t hide the way that they water. I bite back the tears, trying not to let them flow down my cheeks. “It doesn’t matter, Dragon. I can’t be a whore here anymore, not like I was. I’ll be Jag’s and he’s been fighting with me and for me for so long, it just makes sense. Plus, this baby is possibly his.”
“Let me help you out, babe,” he offers.
Shaking my head, I stand to my feet, my tears still on the brink of falling down my face. Inhaling a deep breath, I let it out on a long exhale. “I’m good, but when you get the update on my parents, will you let me know?”
“Della…”
Lifting my hand, I stop him from speaking. “My mother is an awful human. She abused me my entire life. She wanted me to kill my baby or force me to hand it over to her to abuse. My father allowed it, allowed everything. He knew the way that she was and he never stood up for me. He fucked with you guys, he didn’t even really care that you took me, neither of them did. I was out of sight and out of mind. So, if you think that I’m upset
they’re going to be killed. I’m not.”
“Still your parents,” he grunts.
“Tell me, is Bellarosa upset that her mother is gone?” I snap.
Dragon blinks, his eyes staring at me, probably wondering how I know the truth. I have no doubt that nobody is supposed to know that Bella’s mother was killed.
Jaguar told me.
He told me everything about the meeting that Dragon and Bellarosa had with Gavino Santoro. I know that Bella’s mother sold her into a life of sexual servitude, much like my own parents, except I have always craved sex a hell of a lot more than any other woman I’ve ever met.
So, what should have been a punishment, what should have been terrifying has been nothing short of exhilarating, until now. Now, I’m wondering just how I’m going to get through life being beneath Jaguar’s angry thumb.
“Fuck, Della,” he sighs. “I’ll let you handle your life the way you want. You’re an adult. However, I’ll let you know that my door is always open and until that brand is in place, maybe even after, I’ll help you in any way that I possibly can, however that looks.”
“Thank you, Dragon. I’m not going to lie, being with you was always a highlight, but I’m glad that a good woman has you to herself,” I say with a soft smile.
Turning my back to him, I make my way toward the door, wrapping my fingers around the knob and freeze when he speaks.
“I wish that I could say the same about your current situation, babe, but I can’t help but feel like maybe this isn’t the way your story is meant to be written.”
Nodding, I twist the knob and look back over my shoulder toward him. “Maybe, maybe not. All I know is that this is how it’s meant to be in this moment. For my own safety, his sanity, and my baby.”
Dragon dips his chin but doesn’t say anything else. Walking out of the office, I make my way toward the bar where I see Jaguar with a tall slim brunette wrapped around his side. I’ve never seen her before, but she looks extremely comfortable.
